We are atheists who hang out, eat and drink, play board games, watch movies, have the occasional discussion group, debate, or book club… and from time to time, we might want to make fun of Christians. If you are an atheist who is interested in doing any of that, we'd love to meet you. This is a group where you can come and let your guard down. Nobody is going to threaten you with Hell, or tell you that atheists have just as much faith as Christians, or any of that nonsense. You can take any g …

Hi! Welcome to my group & I hope we meet up soon! :) I started this group because I wanted to meet other young, non-religious singles on the Westside.
This group is different for three reasons:
1) Instead of debating/discussing/defending/expla
ining why we are non-religious, I'd rather spend our time hanging out and talking about everything EXCEPT why we are non-believers. LOL Our lack of religion is a mere shared common background - instead of the focal point of our meet ups.
2) This would be a …

Greetings I hope to bring our group of atheists behind the orange curtain to the attention of more atheists in the orange county, long beach area. We are a gourp of socially liberal non believers who would like to meet more of the same.
We decided to start the group because it’s hard to find people who are happy to share their intellect and perspectives on being atheist. This group is not just to talk about religions or our atheist/ agnostic views but to hang out and have fun with people who share similar interests. This group is not for judgmental people who want to criticize other religions, but for those who want to educate each other on strengthening atheist beliefs and or educating each other on different religions, and or …
Backyard Skeptics Long Beach is associated with its parent meetup.com group, Barkyard Skeptics (Central Orange Country). We are a community of individuals interested in exploring and discovering truths in the natural world based on science and critical thinking. As skeptics we question authority and make real-world decisions based upon the conciseness of each scientific field. Our members are humanists, agnostics, atheists and evidencialists. The discovery and awe of the natural world has much m …
Mission Statement: The Humanist Community of Ventura County was formed to provide a welcoming social environment for those committed to secular values and community service. Essentially, we're your friendly neighborhood non-believers who are here to show the world that we're “good without god.” More than anything, we provide a safe and positive sense of community among local Ventura County Humanists! We meet for discussion groups monthly, as well as social gatherings, outdoor activities, and co …
Sometimes it seems like all us atheists do is rail against the onslaught of organized religion and its influence on society. (I admit, I do my share of that.) But I’d also like to think we’re willing to give back to society with our minds and bodies, to help make a better world. So let’s do it! Working with LA Works, I’ll keep us abreast of good deeds we can do as a group – be it cleaning up a beach, helping the homeless, or whatever. Then we’ll have fun doing it, and maybe have a bite to eat af …
There is a growing number of skeptic groups which call themselves 'evidencialists' — those who place their confidence (belief) in only those claims with sufficient evidence. This is one of those groups. This is also the fifth chapter of Backyard Skeptics. There is a chapter in Villa Park, South OC, LA and Long Beach. Our group is one with a heavy atheist 'bent'. If you don't believe in any supernatural deity or paranormal ability (woo-woo), this group is for you. We meet once a month on the thi …
This is a group for freethinking, humanist, agnostic, atheist, life learning, secular homeschooling and unschooling families. We get together for park play days, field trips, learning activities and any other fun events that take place in the Los Angeles area. I want to build a community where our kids can grow up around like-minded families. All ages are welcome. If you are new to homeschooling or if you've been homeschooling for years, we can all learn from each other's experiences. If this s …
Recovering From Religion is a support group for people letting go of religion. If you are one of the many people who have determined that religion no longer has a place in their life, but are still dealing with the after-effects in some way or another, Recovering From Religion (RR) may be just the right spot for you. Many people come to a point that they no longer accept the supernatural explanations for the world around them, or they realize just how much conflict religious belief creates. It c …
Are you an atheist, humanist, skeptic, freethinker, or religious nonbeliever? Would you like to interact with more people who share your worldview? Then welcome to the Secular Meetup Group! A group dedicated to helping people lose their faith*, fears, and superstitions through music, art, and literature. *faith - to pretend to know things you do not know.
What if people got together mainly because they are people? What if we shared with one another, expressed our desires and fears honestly, and connected without worrying so much about external influences; money, work, cars, technology, activities, etc.? In other words, what if we started at the beginning; with our own humanity? What if we worked together to make a place where ANYONE with ANY label can join and be themselves, as long as they don't hurt or compromise others? I don't know for sure, …
I am excited, proud, and enriched by participation in secular humanism groups which foster celebration of freedom from irrational religious dogma and custom. There are many groups in the LA area, but we are notably lacking one for all ages in Santa Monica. Like religious folks, we need community--so let's create one! We are just getting started, so the focus and activities may, might I say, EVOLVE over time. Your ideas are essential.
