WNC Atheists brings together people that find no evidence for the existence of any gods or deities. Are you an atheist, agnostic, skeptic, or freethinker? Then welcome aboard! (Please note: most information about the group, including the names of our members and the locations of some meetups, is kept private from non-members. Unfortunately, we live in a society where there are potentially negative consequences for being public about one's atheism.)

Our group provides support to those who have or are in the process of letting go of supernatural beliefs by providing a community of people in various stages of religious recovery. Our goal is to present thought provoking topics and questions to encourage participation in open discussion. This is not a venue for confrontation or judgement of others. We invite you to join our community and express your thoughts and ideas without worry of being judged. Whatever stage of recovery you are in, we wel …
To bring together atheists, agnostics and other freethinkers. What with this nation leaning towards becoming more religious, those of us who reject religion need to organize and combine our strengths. Even in a society that is supposed to be open and accepting, all too often we have to keep our atheism under wraps lest we be made pariahs.

This group is inclusive of anyone who shares the beliefs of Humanism or Freethought. Freethought is a philosophical viewpoint that holds that opinions should be formed on the basis of science, logic, and reason, and should not be influenced by authority, tradition, or any dogma. Humanism believes in the prmacy of human, rather than divine or supernatual matters. We hold a variety of meetups including coffee-shop social chats, book studies, lectures, movie viewing, invited speakers, bar hopping …
This group was started so that the atheists in the upstate could give back to the community. With our facebook and meetup members combined we have over 140 members. We do volunteer work, community service, food drives, and we have adopted South Blackstock Road. Our billboard should be going up soon also!! This is not only a great group for giving back to the community, but it also makes it easier for like-minded people to meet and socialize. This group is open to all atheists, agnostics, humani …
If you are a non-believer, non-religious person and feel singled-out living in a place where the vast majority of its inhabitants is religious, this is the group for you. I started this group because I've been living in the Cumming area since 2011 and so far I couldn't find anyone that shares my same (lack of) beliefs. Maybe there are others out there like me who just weren't found... yet. If you're that person, let's get together. I want to hear about your readings and I want us to challenge ou …
The Bible is a single-volume collection of several historical texts that were composed over a period of many hundreds of years. The collection as a whole (or certain subsets thereof) is considered by Jews and Christians to be sacred, thus making it difficult to have a discussion of the Bible with many who are already familiar with it. This group is for those who wish to take an unbiased, secular approach to these texts. In a traditional Bible study, the purpose is to discover God's word through …
This is a group for everyone interested in discussing big ideas in a forum open to a wide range of perspectives, attitudes, opinions, and beliefs. We'll choose topics in philosophy, politics, religion, and other categories typically considered taboo outside homogeneous gatherings. Meetups will start with a short video presenting a premise (< 20 min., e.g. TED.com), followed by a lively round table discussion. Arguing is strongly encouraged, but civility is always required. In other words, we'd l …
WNC Humanists is a community of individuals who believe that Humanism offers both a realistic and responsible guide to a happy life without having the supernatural as part of their philosophy. The purpose of this organization is its concern for the advancement of human existence on earth through a philosophy that assumes the responsibility of all human beings for their own actions and for conditions in their culture. In applying Humanistic values to daily living we can advance healthy and natura …
This group is a get together for people interested in skeptical inquiry, current events in science, church and state relations, and medicine. We support critical evaluation of alternative health modalities, conspiracy conjectures, and pseudoscience in general.
I started this meetup group to combine two things.. Dancing and as a social group for freethinkers.. This meetup piggybacks on a dance meetup, so most people there will be dancers. "Freethinker" is an umbrella term for atheists, agnostics, as well as the occasional Buddhist or deist, classical freethinker (like the American Founders), and many Unitarians. It is the fundies who should be singled out (not freethinkers), so I would rater have a freethinker meetup, rather than an atheist meetup.. B …
